Is my phone eSIM compatible?

Before we dive into whether you have an eSIM compatible phone or not, let's first uncover what an eSIM actually is.

Unlike a physical SIM card that you have to manually pop into a small pocket in your phone to get connected, an eSIM is already installed in compatible phones, or as the “e” implies, is embedded.

Now let’s get into the mechanics. To put it simply, how eSIMs work is by being programmed to receive information and data from your chosen mobile network provider. This means switching to a new mobile network provider doesn’t have to involve going to a store to buy a physical card and swapping out SIMs – making connecting to a new network fast and travelling abroad much easier. You can switch to an eSIM mobile plan with felix in just a few clicks.

However, because this technology only become widely used in 2018, there are certain phones that are eSIM compatible and others that missed the boat. The good news is that all the major mobile phone companies have got eSIM compatible phones, so it’s really just a matter of whether your phone model is modern enough.
